History:
In 1899, a typhoid epidemic broke out in the Harrisburg area. A concerned community-minded woman, Mrs. A.P.L. Dull, hired a nurse to go into the homes and teach families how to cope with such an illness and how to avoid infection. This was the beginning of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Pennsylvania (VNA) and their rich history of service to those in the community who need home care.

Since that first day in 1899, the VNA has provided high quality home care to families and the community regardless of race, sex, age, creed or socio-economic status. In this regard, we have provided services to thousands upon thousands of families throughout south central Pennsylvania over the years.

As a non-profit organization, you can be assured that our loyalty is to you, the client.

Our Mission:
The mission of the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. (VNA) is to provide comprehensive, high quality, cost-effective home and health care services. These services would be available to residents in south central Pennsylvania regardless of their ability to pay to the extent that funds are available.

Our Services Today:
Today, the VNA continues its proud mission by providing caring, compassionate, and cost-effective services to the community. The VNA currently serves Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, York, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Northumberland, and Juniata Counties. To more adequately reflect the communities we serve, our name was changed to the Visiting Nurse Association of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. in January of 2000. Our programs continue to expand to meet the needs of our growing community.
